Chasing Zero Hair Loss during Chemotherapy

Fighting cancer is not only physically draining and debilitating, but the emotional pain of dealing with hair loss during chemo, is often as hurtful as the physical pain, especially for young children.

Nina Cancer & Trichology foundation is working to provide much needed help and support to the cancer community in Curaçao. Nina Cancer & Trichology (NCT) foundation, supports patients who are dealing with hair loss in Curaçao. NCT specializes in creating wigs from the patient’s own pre-chemo hair, so that the patient can wear his or her hair during and after the chemotherapy process. NCT also helps patients nurture their scalp so that they minimize the risk of permanent hair loss caused by the cancer treatment.

H4C is helping NCT in the following ways …

  1. NCT will be working with the local hospital and the Ronald McDonald House of Charities, to equip the chemo facility with Scalp Cooling technology.  Scalp Cooling is a treatment that patients receive while undergoing chemo-therapy, that in many cases, prevents hair loss caused by chemo.  H4C will be helping with the purchase of the Scalp Cooling equipment and the funding of the training for the nurses at the chemo facility who will be operating the equipment.
  2. H4C is funding the material for wigs for young cancer patients who are unable to afford the costs of a professional hand-made lace wig.
